Port Jeff Village invests in new parking meters Visitors enjoy a better parking experience The Inc. Village of Port Jefferson recently replaced (7) parking meters with a brand new model made by Metric. The new meters are more reliable , quicker and accept additional forms of payment. “The new meters accept coin, tokens, smart cards, credit cards and what everyone was asking for, CASH (dollar bills). In addition, the new model has an HD video screen giving visitors to Port Jeff ‘up to date’ information on parking in addition to Village events”, said Kevin Wood - the Village’s Parking Administrator. The Village has 23 meters in 7 off street parking lots - Parking on both Main and East Main street remains free. Parking in the metered lots is 50 cents per hour from March 15th to Dec 4th and $1 per hour from Memorial Day to Labor Day - on Weekends only.
